The Imagine Dragons have not released any new music in the past two years, but on March 12th, they released two new songs which will be featured in an upcoming album.

The first is called ‘Follow You,’ and Dan Reynolds, the Lead Singer and Song Writer for the band, said that it is incredibly personal as it tells the story of the text message that saved his marriage with wife. Reynolds and his wife, Aja Volkman, had been separated for seven months before deciding to get back together. He commented, saying, “I wanted it to represent a love that is realistic.  One where love isn’t perfect, but it endures.” The song is very optimistic and upbeat, a stark contrast to the lyrics and rhythm of the second song they released.

The second new song, Cutthroat, is about battling yourself. Reynolds explained, “It’s an exorcism of self-pity.  An examination of my life – finding that I am beyond blessed – and trying to rid myself of self-doubt and loathing.” The Grammy winner continues to say, “At the end of the day, only one Dan will prevail, and it’s the one that loves myself.”

Today, March 16th, the Imagine Dragons released the music video for ‘Follow You,’ and it features some surprising guests. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actors Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson star in the video, where they decide to see a private concert for Rob’s birthday. The video is clever, funny, and cute.
