Nine-year-old Ezra Blount is the most recent death following the Astroworld incident in Houston, Texas. The youngest of the victims, he passed away Sunday after being placed in a medically induced coma.
Ezra was the 10th person to die from the festival; he was sitting on his father’s, Treston Blount, shoulders when a crowd surge separated them. The father lost consciousness and when he woke up he couldn’t find Ezra.
His parents have set up a GoFundMe page to pay for medical expenses. The Blount family and many other have filed lawsuits asking for at least $1 million in damages. Ten have died, and 25 have been hospitalized with injuries.
Houston mayor Sylvester Turner spoke at a press meeting on Saturday, “This is a very, very active investigation, and we will probably be at it for quite some time to determine what exactly happened.” Houston Police Department chief Troy Finner added, “This is now a criminal investigation that’s going to involve our homicide division, as well as narcotics, and we’re going to get down to the bottom of it.”
More details will emerge as the investigation into the causes continue.
