Amazon Prime picks up ‘The Hazbin Hotel’

It's been one hell of a ride for writer and producer Vivienne Medrano, or Vivziepop, the last couple of years.

For those who don’t know, Vivziepop created Hazbin Hotel, a horror comedy adult animated musical series that follows the story of Charlie, daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, as she attempts to rehabilitate the lost souls of hell at the Hazbin Hotel.

The pilot became one of the most viral animated videos to drop on YouTube back in 2019, with 90 million views; the show garnered a large fanbase with much success. Then, in November of that year, Vivziepop released Helluva Boss, a spin-off show of Hazbin Hotel, which made some fans believe that production for Hazbin Hotel would be stalled because of the new show, and they weren’t wrong. The spin-off gained two seasons on YouTube, while Hazbin only had the pilot episode (in fact, the next episode of Helluva Boss comes out this Halloween). It seemed to fans that Hazbin would be a forgotten project till, in August 2020, A24 announced that they had picked up the little hotel and planned to put the show in service for an entire season. Then, in July 2022, the channel released a music video about one of the beloved Hazbin characters, Angel Dust, which garnered 155 million views.

But things went silent again, and for a while, many followers began to lose hope in ever seeing the show come to fruition, that is until now. Just a few days ago, it was announced that Hazbin Hotel will be up and running on Amazon’s Prime and is confirmed for two full seasons. The 8-episode first season is set to be released in January 2024. But if you’re eager to see the first two episodes before its release on Prime, hazbinhotel.com is releasing three tiers of pre-order packages that will allow fans to attain a variety of perks and items.

So, are you planning to check into Hazbin Hotel?
