On November 12th PlayStation 5, by Sony Interactive Entertainment, released.
It is a new console for the first time in seven years since PlayStation 4 was launched. PS4 created a hit by selling over 100 million consoles in the world. There was a competition to buy PS5, and many resellers appeared online to sell it at more than several times the original price.
As games on PC and smartphones become more popular, Sony focused on creating “a sense of immersion” on PS5. Hideaki Nishino, PlayStation’s senior vice president, platform planning & management said “We would like to provide the experience that you can never come back out once you try PS5.”
PS5 is more advanced because it uses a custom SDD that reaches speeds of up to 5.5GB/s, so it reduced players’ waiting time. SDD is also used on Xbox Series X by Microsoft that was released at the same time.
The best advance to create that “sense of immersion” is haptic feedback technology in the controller. Haptic feedback technology allows players to physically feel the differences between walking on sand and ice. A part of the button has restitution, and it makes players feel like pulling a real trigger of guns. In addition, the controller is bigger than PS4’s, so they can feel that much better.
Walmart announced that PS5 will be sold during Black Friday sales that are starting on November 25th a few days before Black Friday. This will be a great opportunity for people who have not been able to buy one even though the consoles will not be discounted.
