Let’s Talk About Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage

Today is opening day of Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, and let’s talk about it.

*WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD*

I want to start off by saying that I enjoyed the first Venom movie. I think that Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock was way better than when Topher Grace tried it in Spirder-Man 3 (sorry Eric Forman). I think that while Topher’s Venom was entertaining, it was rushed and portrayed Venom as evil instead of the morally gray anti-hero we all love.

In Venom 2 we still get to see the symbiote’s personality, but we also further explore Eddie and Venom’s life together. We can see how difficult it is to share a body with someone, and when they “break up,” that’s when we truly see how much they need each other.

I think the movie is filled with funny moments, but it also gets down to business with our awesome villain, Cletus Kasady. Woody Harrelson is an incredible actor and plays the psycho serial killer role very well. I also really enjoyed his relationship with Frances Barrison. The chaotic energy of them coming together made you almost want them to win. I will say though, that the opening scene with them could’ve been better. Opening scenes are supposed to act as a hook, and it didn’t quite do it for me.

Now to talk about what I really came here to talk about… THIS IS YOUR LAST SPOILER WARNING.

THE END CREDITS SCENE! I just want to state that I was actually screaming in the theater, and my friend was definitely embarrassed by me.

So it is officially confirmed that Venom is in the MCU. How exciting is that? I was excited to see what Venom was going to show Eddie about the universe, but when I saw that ripple it reminded me of WandaVision. I would also like to point out how funny it was when Venom licked Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the screen (very comic book accurate lol).

If you have watched all of the Disney Plus Marvel shows (Spoilers for those if you haven’t!), then you’ve probably seen the theory of how time could be aligning. The moment where Wanda hears her kids while reading the Dark Hold lines up with a moment when He Who Remains in Loki says that something just changed forever. Based on the No Way Home trailer, fans are also speculating that those moments also match up with when Doctor Strange messed up his spell. Now with our knowledge of Venom, could that moment also align with the Sony Universe? See them synced below:

So many theories and unanswered questions, but one thing is for certain. We will be seeing Venom in future MCU projects!
