Kemdi:
Can you both please state your name, major, and your position at Titan TV?

Joshua:
My name is Joshua Lopez. I’m a music performance major in the College of the Arts, and I do audio here at Titan TV.

Daisy:
My name is Daisy Lopez. My major is CTVA — Cinema and Television Arts. I’m an audio technician intern at Titan TV.

Kemdi:
How long have you been involved with Titan TV, and what got you involved in the first place?

Joshua:
This is my third year with Titan TV. What got me involved was transferring from community college. Since I already knew a bit about music production, I found this to be a similar path.

Daisy:
This is my first and only semester with Titan TV since I’ll be graduating this May. I chose it because sound has always been a fun hobby for me. During the prerequisite and production courses, it intrigued me. Integrating that into a broadcasting studio seemed like a great opportunity to learn more techniques, which I have — and I plan to keep learning in the future.

Kemdi:
What have you learned from Titan TV, both in terms of professional conduct and audio skills, that you’ll take with you to future jobs?

Joshua:
One of the main things I’ve learned is how much goes into broadcasting as a whole. I came in knowing only audio, but I’ve learned how interconnected everyone’s roles are. That collaboration and shared expertise is something I’ll carry with me, wherever my career ends up going.

Daisy:
I agree. I’ve learned how to mic up anchors, talk to them, help them relax before going on, and how to troubleshoot — thanks to people like Joshua and Julio. I’ve had amazing mentors. Working in the studio with crew members like the technical director gave me a better understanding of their roles. I’ve gotten a real taste of what it would be like in those positions, and I enjoy learning as much as I can so I can help out and share that knowledge too.

Kemdi:
What advice would you give to others considering a similar career path, whether in music, film, or just branching out and trying something new?

Joshua:
From the perspective of someone in the College of the Arts, I never imagined myself working here. Being open to different opportunities and finding your own niche is important. You never know where things might lead, so stay open and ready for change.

Daisy:
Exactly. There are so many different routes you can take. It’s good to be aware of all the options out there so you can find what works for you.

Kemdi:
All right, thank you both!
