The following is an interview conducted for the Spring 2025 Graphics Team at Titan TV, Salvatore Napizia, and Sofia Stewart.

Kemdi:

Can you please state your name, year, major, and position at Titan TV?

Sofia:

I’m Sophia. I’m a sophomore.
I’m a double major in graphic design and CTVA, and I’m a graphics and animation intern.

Sal:

I’m Sal. I’m a freshman.
I am a finance major and a graphic design and animation artist.

Kemdi:

Can you talk a little about the day-to-day functions of your job?

Sofia:

There are some overarching projects that I’m working on, but mostly it’s just seeing if, you know, people need thumbnails or any other small graphic things for the shows.

Sal:

I think Sofia covered most of it, but yeah, just helping out with shows if they need short animations and graphics, we’re usually working on that. Or if it’s a shoot day, we might need a background for the LED screen.

Kemdi:

How did you come to be involved with Titan TV, and how would you describe your experience so far?

Sofia:

As a freshman, I started volunteering, mostly just with the shows, and then I came back this spring, and I wanted to have a bigger role, so I applied for the internship position for a graphic design intern, and I ended up getting it. I enjoy it so far. I think everyone here is great, and it’s just a great community to work in.

Sal:

I think it was the summer after my senior year of high school.
I saw the job because I was looking for a job on campus, and the position interested me. I’ve done graphics work previously, and I thought, oh, I can do something I enjoy and get paid for it. I applied and got the job in my first semester here. Everyone is very welcoming and great to be around.
It’s a very good community. If media is a career you wanna pursue, I think this is a great place to start.

Kemdi:

What would you say are the highs and lows of your job?

Sofia:

For me, the design itself is really easy. I’m glad that part comes easily to me. The hardest part is the TV stuff. Editing photos in batches can get tedious after a while, but otherwise, most of it’s great; I enjoy it.

Sal:

The highs, I’d say, would be designing and animating. I love doing that. The lows would be the tedious things, editing photos and names.

Kemdi:

What work are you most proud of during your time here?

Sofia:

Probably the staff mini-posters. They were the first thing I got to have any impact on. I got to design them by myself, and I was proud of the result.

For me, it was one of the Titan Radio Live episodes. It might have been Familiar Faces. I designed the backgrounds for the episode that played behind the band on the LED wall.  I just really like how the background turned out for that, and I think it looked really good in the video.

Kemdi:

Do you see yourself continuing down a graphic design path?

Sofia:

I kind of like that overlap between the media and graphic design, so I think I’ll continue on this path, which is why this job is such a great one for me.  I get experience and knowledge I can take with me throughout my career journey.

Sal

I think I’m still gonna pursue a business career, regardless of whether that’s finance or marketing. I’ve been designing and animating for six or seven years now, and I enjoy doing it here. I’ll likely continue to do this while I pursue my degree, but eventually, I’d like to branch out. I’ve thought of becoming an art director, running a team, and having a marketing agency. I’m not sure what’ll happen so far down the line, but I like to think big.

Kemdi:

What advice do you have for anyone interested in getting a position at Titan TV in the future?

Sofia:

I would just start out getting involved. Start talking to people and apply,  everyone’s super nice here.
I think everyone can find a place here.

Sal:

If you don’t already have the skills, I’d say, to network. Go and ask people who are currently working in positions you want, see how things work,  and watch YouTube tutorials. Tutorials can teach you a lot of things, but try to volunteer and get experience too, because there’s only so much you can learn through a video.
