5 Romantic Movies that are Perfect for Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re single or taken, into cheesy love stories or not, we could all use a good romantic movie every once in a while. Here is a list of 5 of my favorite romance movies for whatever mood you’re in on Valentine’s Day.

Crazy, Stupid, Love

If you’re a sucker for a good, cliche romantic comedy, Crazy, Stupid, Love is your Valentine’s Day watch (or rewatch). This movie features iconic celebrities, such as Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and Steve Carell. It follows the lives of several characters as they try to figure out their respective love lives and relationships. A classic rom com, this movie will have you laughing and rooting for the characters. It is a great feel good movie for when you just want to enjoy something light with a good snack.

Palm Springs

On the other hand, if you’re tired of the cheesy tropes, Palm Springs gives a different spin to a classic romantic comedy. It features Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti, who play two characters trapped in an infinite time loop. This movie is witty, funny, and entertaining all while making you fall in love with the fun banter between the two characters. If you feel like you’ve seen the same movie over and over again, this is the romance movie for you. With its different twists and well written characters, you won’t be bored with this watch.

It’s Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong

If you’re the type of person who likes when movies mirror real life, It’s Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong is a good, highly underrated watch. This movie follows two characters who meet by chance and get to know each other as they explore Hong Kong. It has no crazy, over the top situations that you feel like would never happen in real life. It’s simply a story about two characters getting to learn about each other (and themselves) through interesting conversations that pull you in as a viewer. Its simplicity makes it feel real and relatable.

A Walk to Remember

I may be biased, but I think A Walk to Remember is the best romantic movie of all time. If you want to watch something a little more serious with a little more depth than your classic rom com, this movie is perfect for your Valentine’s Day. It all starts when Jamie and Landon, two very opposite characters, are put in a play together. From there, we follow them as they get to know each other, grow as individual people, and learn what true love feels like. It might sound cheesy (and it is) but the character development and relationship that form within this film are some of the best I’ve seen.

La La Land

Lastly, if you want a movie full of passion and emotion,  La La Land is another great love story that once again features Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. They play characters that are very ambitious and passionate about their careers. As a result, we see them tackle real problems couples go through when they are trying to choose between true love or their dream. This movie captivates its audience through the lovely musical performances, fantastic acting, and the wonderful dynamic between Stone and Gosling.
