The finale of Marvel’s Loki premiered on Disney+ on July 14th, and I have some thoughts I wanted to share…
*SPOILERS AHEAD* Come on, what did you expect?
Tom Hiddleston has been playing Loki for a long time, and he is very in tune with the character. Overall I thought that the show did a good job showcasing a different side of the Loki we know.
I didn’t feel the final episode had the conclusion I was looking for. Sylvie and Loki finally kissed, which I figured was coming, but I’m not a massive fan of it. Then immediately after Loki makes a heartfelt statement about how he won’t betray her, SHE betrays HIM!
Also, I didn’t particularly appreciate how we were left with more questions than answers. Granted, Marvel is producing a second season of the show, but this episode didn’t feel like a finale to me.
I want to know where Ravonna went, she jumped through a portal, and we didn’t hear anything else from her the rest of the episode.
We did find out who’s running the TVA, but we never get a name. We can all assume it’s Kang, but is this version of him Kang the Conqueror? Although we know he was in charge, with that one answer came a million more about his past and his identity. We don’t know that much about him other than what he told us, and we, like both Loki variants, don’t know if he’s telling the truth.
Why did Mobius not recognize Loki? We assume that because Sylvie killed Kang, Loki was thrust somewhere in the multiverse. Does that mean that there are multiple TVAs across time? And does that mean that the TVA is inside the timeline somewhere? *Cough cough* Quantum realm?
On top of all the questions, the pace of the episode was a little slow for me. I did enjoy the lover’s quarrel between Loki and Sylvie, though, but it was short-lived.
The episode spent most of its time attempting to set up the next season and the next steps into Phase 5. I will say I’m very excited for Multiverse of Madness and No Way Home. I hope to see Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield sporting the classic red and blue now that the multiverse exists. We also have Deadpool confirmed in the MCU now, so this new era of marvel is going to be a wild ride.
