For decades, Latin actors and filmmakers have been told—directly and indirectly—what they’re allowed to look like, what roles they can play, and which stories are worth telling. From colorism and casting bias to stereotypes rooted in colonial history, the industry has shaped not just representation, but how Latinos see themselves.

In this episode of Tu Vóz, we explore how these systems still operate today—from internalized racism to the fight for ownership and for authentic storytelling.
